Sculpture Care Instructions

The following steps can be repeated as needed to clean and maintain your pieces. Please read all instructions thoroughly. Do not clean or polish with any rings on your hands.

 

Silver

Clean

Clean art piece with E-Z Shine Metal Cleaner as directed on bottle for normal cleaning.

Refinish

For Silver plated portion or art piece, apply a coat or coats of new silver using Silverplater Polish with a soft cloth.  Buff with a clean soft cloth.  Additional directions are on the container. You can use a soft toothbrush to get into the crevices.

Protect*

To retard tarnish after cleaning, seal surface with an application of E-Z Guard ProtectorUse the sealer at room temperature and spray in short bursts directly on the surface; immediately spread with a soft cloth and then buff off excess until dry.  Or, spray directly on a soft cloth and apply to art piece, buffing until dry.  Additional directions are on the container.

Gold

Clean

Polish the gold with a soft chamois – the Silverplater product with also help polish the gold.

 

Protect*

Same product and application for gold as for silver maintenance. Use only a soft chamois cloth to polish the gold.  If you use anything too abrasive, you will remove the gold plating. Avoid using other chemical cleaning agents on the gold. Gold does not tarnish.

 

Bronze Patina

Clean

Use mild ivory soap and water to clean. Wipe dry with soft chamois or cloth.

 

Wax/Maintain

It is recommended that you wax your sculpture every year with Johnsons Paste Wax – this will protect the patina.  Apply with a soft fiber brush and then wipe clean with a soft cloth. A warm environment is recommended.
